About Laura

“I am passionate about the health and wellbeing of all Canadian children, youth and adults.”

Laura is a freelance health researcher, writer and educator who has had extensive experience in both clinical social work and health research with well-known organizations and institutions. For over 20 years, she has held a number of clinical, project management, research and volunteer positions in hospitals, community agencies, the public education sector and not-for-profit organizations. This work has led to her increasing passion for advancing health equity and engaging in social action. She also continues to hold a Clinical Research Coordinator role at the Hospital for Sick Children and a Project Investigator role at the Peter Gilgan Centre for Research and Learning, SickKids.

Her research and project management work has focused on various aspects of child and family health, quality of life, social determinants of health and health outcomes.   She specializes in overseeing large scale projects, conducting multi-site research studies and engaging in knowledge translation strategies. Over the past several years, she has had the opportunity to contribute to regional, provincial and national research, advocacy and policy initiatives in child and family health.
